Informal caregivers’ perspective on their involvement in the shared decision-making process in the context of long term care: a narrative analysis

This study provides knowledge on the experiences of informal caregivers in terms of SDM within the context of long termcare by examining and analysing books written by informal caregivers. The study hereby offers insight into the depth and complexity of the experiences of authors (Riessman, 2008) which has been missing in earlier research of informal caregiver experience. This is a qualitative study based on a narrative approach, which enables the investigator to study complex, lived experiences in-depth and in detail.
